God is both King and Creator who says, “Let there be …” He rebuilds our ruined lives into something entirely new.
These words are a fitting description of the early days of our sisterhood in 1947. Dr.Klara Schlink (later known as Mother Basilea, 1904-2001) and Erika Madauss (Mother Martyria, 1904-1999) left their professions and secure positions and moved to Darmstadt where God had called them to begin a new ministry.
Nach der völligen Zerstörung der Stadt 1944 wurden sie und die Jugendlichen unter ihrer Leitung ganz persönlich mit der Ewigkeit konfrontiert. Bis dahin unerkannte Sünden wurden vor Gottes Heiligkeit aufgedeckt und bereut – und aus dem großen Dank über Seine Vergebung brach sich die Liebe zu Jesus in den Herzen Bahn. Aus diesem Erleben heraus entstand der Wunsch, im gemeinsamen Leben Ihm zu dienen – und wenige Jahre später wurde daraus die Evangelische Marienschwesternschaft …
